The aim of the ISOBEL project is to develop recommendations for action for bedload management in rivers that do not carry natural bedload due to transverse structures.

Numerous native fish species depend on habitats with diverse water structures and gravel areas. The ISOBEL project is testing various approaches for effective and efficient bedload management. It thus makes a valuable contribution to the implementation of the Water Framework Directive.

The findings can be transferred to water bodies throughout Europe. The project is being implemented by LEW Wasserkraft GmbH, Fischereiverband Schwaben e.V. and the Institute of Geography at the University of Augsburg.
